Building community through sport
I have been enjoying the lifestyle of running for years. Friendship. Sport. Fitness. Experience. And more…
A long time ago… I ran varsity track (middle distance) and cross country. I loved it. It became an amazing part of my life. After the “serious” years in school, I found endurance. In 1998 I ran NYC Marathon and I was like a kid in a candy store. Since then, marathons, Ironmans and Ultras have started to creep into my running portfolio.
Somewhere along the way, I also found the opportunity to a part of the community from the other side. I have had the great fortune to work on core organizing committees for events such as the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, World Half Marathon Championships, Ottawa Marathon, Ironman 70.3 Calgary and most recently the Calgary Marathon, where I am the President of the Calgary Marathon Society. From idea to execution, I have been fortunate to be a part of great teams that have produce world class events. It is great to be a part of my community where I live and where I run.
Running and triathlon have brought me good health and great friends! I am hoping that this blog can get a few folks up and running and experience the fun and lifestyle.
